: ANDERSON |
|
 |
On a warm day in August,
two Dutch boys started writing songs. With their
early home-recording-demo's they managed to get
signed by the promising Dutch label 'Volkoren' which
harbours bands like at the close of every day(NL/DK)
and Sixteen Horsepower (USA).
ANDERSON started to perform live in 2004; intimate
shows with just 2 voices and acoustic guitars.
After a while they started to dress up their songs
with electronic beats, samples and synths. After
their second gig ANDERSON won the band contest
the Grand Prix of South Holland' and in December
2004 they were elected by the audience as the
best band at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands,
the biggest Dutch band competition!
In the summer of 2004, ANDERSON recorded their
debut-album we radio anderson'. The album was
recorded by Martijn Groeneveld (Face Tomorrow)
and produced by Minco Eggersman (the spirit that
guides us, at the close of every day) and René
de Vries (this beautiful mess). It was released
in 2005 in The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg
by Volkoren/Munich and in Germany and Austria
by Decoder Records/Alive. The Tokyo based label
Thistime Records will release it in Japan in the
fall.
The responses in the media were highly positive;
good reviews in music magazines (Oor, Fret) and
newspapers (Belgian newspaper De Morgen' made
we radio anderson album of the week'). The album-track
imagine you in front of me' is getting a lot of
airplay; it even reached the charts of Holland
's biggest alternative radio station, Kink FM
(#8 in the Outlaw 41).
ANDERSON toured in the United States, Sweden,
Denmark, Germany, Holland and Belgium and they
played at some great clubs including Paradiso,
Nighttown, Ekko, Hedon, 013 and Vera (Holland),
l'Ancienne Belgique, Vooruit (Belgium), The Knitting
Factory (Los Angeles) and Debaser (Stockholm).
ANDERSON is still touring to promote their first
album. This summer they'll play some great festivals
in the Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland and
there are new tours planned in the USA (October)
and Europe (November). Be sure to meet them on
the road!!

This Dutch band plays music that will make
you happy. No doubt about it! All of their songs sound
like they are written on an acoustic guitar before adding
some electronic bleeps and all kinds of other sweet sounds.
For those who know Air, you have something to compare
it to. For everyone else I'll just say that "Weradioanderson"
is a collection of electro/acoustic pop that arrived just
in time to listen to while enjoying those first rays of
sun of the year. |

'A charming, sympathetic and just a very
good debut.'

anderson make a kind of acoustic electro
pop with rare sun shining melodies
and catchy incidental music who are searching the boards
of kitsch but never
cross it. You can compare it to Spinvis or The Postal
Service. |
OOR (Dutch leading
music magazine) |
.... an album featuring beautiful hum along
pop songs with pleasant
melodies and voices. |

Perfectly balanced electronic guitar pop. |

We radio anderson is our car driving favourite
by far. |

They show what would happen if Simon &
Garfunkel or Kings of Convenience
were softly touched by an electronic cloud when walking
by. The result would
be wonderful, guitar-picked and with careful electronic
fused
spring-folksongs. Exactly these you can find on we radio
anderson... With
these songs Anderson could have chased away the winter
probably even two
months ago. |

Bas van Nienes and Jeroen van der Werken
have a feeling for creating a soft
sound-carpet out of little melodies, a few guitar chords
and the zeros and
ones of the electric circuit, which doesn't get lost in
the background...
Made up with a huge spectrum in the own music-taste and
composed very
lovingly. |
