Formed in1998 by college friends FJK (Vo, G), Yasui (Vo, B) and Furusawa (Dr).

Influenced by US bands such as Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr., Sugar, Weezer, they started writing songs to create their own unique style of music. FJK had a progressive perspective, making catchy songs with complex melodies in the early phase, but gradually changed to creating simple, articulate music in order to present the good quality of the song itself.

Their first demo tape was made in 1999 titled “MY GUITAR EP”, and was sold all over Japan starting at Highline. Looking up to American labels and bands with the DIY spirit, SKYBEAVER went around record shops all over Japan and sold over 1500 tapes along with the “Photograph EP”.

A split album with Katsurada5 (Tinstar Records) was released in 2000. They actively engaged in shows as well as in-store and radio shows in the Kansai area. The sound was often connected to the next generation punk bands like The Getup Kids and Jimmy Eat World. That year, “POP TO THE POPTUNE vol2” was released with other bands known for melodic hard core like PEZSTOMP and 3.6Milk. “Roamer”, the song recorded on the album, had a different style from the other bands, but received great support for being powerful and emotional.

When FJK went to the UK in 2001, he was shocked by the difference in the environment, management and style in the music industry. He continued with his ongoing self produced project “Spoil the Show”, and also began “Song#1”at Meguro’s Mod Studio, the concept being more music of the band you like for a cheaper price. Each show is 500 yen, limited to 2 bands a night, and has had great response both from the musicians as well as the audience. Aside from these events, they have opened for Norway’s guitar rock band “BEEZEWAX” in Japan, and released a third demo “For Dear Life”. They have received great sales and reviews at “STM”, a shop specializing in emotional and melodic hard core music.

In 2003, drummer Furusawa left the band. An unexpected turn for the band but they continued on with the help of Yukawa from Barfly (ex Human Station) and Iwahara from Brokenspace.

Sharing a similar sense of melody and spirit, they started an event “It Won’t be Wrong” with good friends Brokenspace, and went on to create a split mini album ”Sympathy” from THISTIME RECORDS in December. Although it was a split album, this was in the top rankings at many foreign affiliate CD shops, and sample cds are still in stores.

Drummer Fukagawa and guitarist Furuichi officially joined in April 2004. The first sound created by these 4 members was presented in October in a compilation by Orchard Japan.

July 21, 2005. Full album “Simpleton” to be released.
